What Does It Mean to Serve God?
Some people think ministry is the only way to serve God. In their thinking, if you’re not preaching or telling people about Jesus, you’re not serving Him. And nowadays, some measure it by how much you post about Jesus on Facebook, TikTok, or Instagram.
But our service to Him isn’t measured by outward appearances. It’s measured by the heart, and the heart always shows itself in what we do.
It has to do with loving God with all your heart and loving your neighbor as you love yourself—which really lacks in many churches, but not all!
The Scriptures teach us what pleases Him and what doesn’t. That’s where we learn how to live.
It starts with faith. Without it, we cannot please Him.
That faith shows itself in loving our neighbors, praying for our enemies, and turning the other cheek. It means giving without letting the left hand know what the right hand gives.
It includes caring for widows, beginning with our own families, caring for true orphans, and helping the poor.
Above all, it’s living a Godly life, not just a religious life.
Some people say, “If you don’t attend a church, you’re not serving Him!” I’m not saying don’t go. But some people can’t attend because of health or transportation. Others have been hurt or offended.
It begins in your spirit, through a true relationship with Him. It’s knowing who your Heavenly Father is.
You may not have great knowledge of the Bible. You may not be able to quote every verse. You may not be a preacher. But the relationship no one can see bears fruit in the way you live.
Our pursuit should be what is eternal—our heavenly prize and reward! Not chasing after the world and what it craves: fame, politics, luxury, or becoming a brand.
Some of the greatest servants of God will never be known here on earth. But Heaven will reveal who they were when no one even cared to notice!
As you go through your day, remember: even when no one notices, God sees your heart and the love you show others.
I pray these words bring you encouragement and a time of refreshing as you walk with Him.
I love you, my friends.
